Elbit Systems UK continues to make strides in military training and simulation
2 December 2025
Over the past year, ESUK has continued to deliver its market-leading training technology, which creates better-trained personnel across the British Armed Forces. From joint fires training to indirect fires training; vehicle training to surface navy training – ESUK is developing the technology to ensure our Armed Forces are ready to face the challenges of the modern battlefield and meet current and future threats.
In September, ESUK announced the delivery of its Interim Indirect Fires Simulation training to the British Army. In the past two months, ESUK has gone further, delivering all 81mm Mortar and 105mm Light Gun solutions to units across the British Army, including the Combined Arms Manoeuvre School (CAMS) and the Royal School of Artillery (RSA). The 100% NATO-sourced and manufactured capability is now in the hands of end-users, troops have the added benefit of being able to use the system’s simulated ammunition to carry out more frequent and repeatable training – creating faster learning and giving our troops the advantage in future operations. ESUK is working with the British Army to support the use of IIDFS, with the team delivering 46 weeks of training over the coming year.
Alongside JFST, ICAVS(D) has continued to see significant use with the British Army, delivering over 825,000 individual simulation training hours. The training solution, which is fully sourced and manufactured in the UK, has previously seen deployment with British troops across the globe, including Operation CABRIT in Estonia, Exercise CERBERUS in Germany, and recently provided training to 123 teams from 33 military contingents as part of Cambrian Patrol. ICAVS(D) provides complex mission rehearsal for users, allowing both dismounted and mounted operations and was first deployed by the British Army in 2022.
ESUK is also the synthetic training integrator for Team Fisher, the Capita-led consortium modernising the training for the Royal Navy, as part of Project Selborne. ESUK facilitates the Warfare Operator training for all sailors and officers, which this year has been delivered to over 400 trainees, 75 brigade Ops Room Teams and nearly every Ship’s Company through Fleet Operational Sea Time. Alongside its partners, ESUK developed and delivered a Flight Deck Operator VR training system for the Royal Navy, which is used in RN fixed wing training for aircraft carrier operations. Through ESUK’s work as part of Team Fisher consortium, the business is committed to modernising Royal Navy training – delivering better trained personnel to the frontline faster.
Since ESUK was contracted to deliver Project Vulcan in 2023, the team has been working hard to develop and deliver Technical-level individual training for vehicle drivers, gunners, commanders and Tactical-level crew training with the addition of a dismounted soldier role player. As part of this, ESUK passed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) for the Boxer Platform Trainer Crew (PTC) in September. Project Vulcan will provide realistic Technical and Tactical level training to mounted personnel whilst creating an immersive and interoperable synthetic space for all trainees to work within – replicating the real-world movement of an armoured Infantry Company.
ESUK’s JFST, which is 98% NATO-sourced and manufactured, continues to be a key solution for fires training for the British Armed Forces. Deployed at the Royal School of Artillery and the Air Ground Operations School (AGOS), and operational front line units. The system delivers high-fidelity training for Joint Fires Operators, allowing them to find and target enemy threats using the same equipment as they would in the field.
Training is an important part of what we offer to the British Armed Forces and an essential component in the development of our troops. Our solutions provide high-tech, outcome-focused training that enables troops to learn their required skills more efficiently. We will continue to work with the British Armed Forces to develop the next generation of technology to help ensure personnel remain at the cutting edge, ready to combat the threats of today and tomorrow.
