I chose to work Elbit Systems UK because I was taken by its different approach to the market and the rich technology within its portfolio. Having world leading technology is important, but just as important is how the company engages with customers, creating a solution together that answers and solves the customer’s problem. Vision is important and the company recognises the benefit of establishing a base from which it can work here in the UK. The UK base is a mix of cultures and this diversity generates a different approach to solving problems. It has taken time to understand the differences in culture, but the company’s open and honest approach has meant teams have always worked together to deliver the solution.

What has encouraged me during my time with the company is the level of investment the senior leadership has continued to commit to the UK and the growth we have been able to sustain. This investment in the UK and its people has allowed us to grow and secure work many thought unachievable in the UK. I believe Elbit Systems has an exciting future in the UK.

My initial interest in joining ESUK was that it was a start-up. I like the energy associated with start-ups and the excitement of building something new. After a few months with the company, what I loved even more was my team. I’m not sure what magical HR elf made it happen but it has been by far the most down-to-earth, hard working group I have ever had the pleasure of working with.

I am now six months into a new career with Elbit Systems UK. This followed hot on the heels of me leaving the British Army after 26 years of service there. As such I had little experience of the commercial sector and limited understanding of Elbit Systems UK specifically. That said, I chose to join Elbit due to the diversity of people and to experience a company at the cutting edge of future technologies. I have not been disappointed despite the circumstances of 2020. Indeed, I am glad to have joined such an innovative company able to continue during challenging times for multiple reasons, but mainly because the people have been flexible and professional. Focusing on the outcomes of the ‘end user’ - mostly UK MOD for Elbit - is vital and consistent with the same approach in the Israeli end of Elbit. I’m confident that based on the approach to people and the technology involved, Elbit has a bright future. Despite inevitably not winning all possible business, I know it will strive to win as much as possible through the efforts of its people. It is stimulating and a little crazy at times, but with good people the realistic ambitions of a global leader that is new to the broader UK market will make this a destination of choice for high grade employees for many years to come.
