Position Purchase & Sales Ledger Controller
Reports to: Head of Finance
Contract: FTC for 12 months
Location: Oldham


The Purchase & Sales Ledger Controller will be responsible to provide support to Head of Finance and all ESUK-A&S disciplines in their field – to maintain and control the entire Sales ledger/cash collection and Purchase ledger functions – that needs to be executed with the company’s overall strategy of maximizing its cash flow.

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly sales invoicing, ensuring that all data adheres to the contractual requirements. This includes production of all sales invoices and the compilation of documentation for export deliveries and letters of credit to strict specification
  • Generate monthly sales statements and reminders where necessary
  • Review debtors ledger, including full explanations and any proposed actions
  • Communicate with the Commercial and Project Management function where necessary
  • Process all purchase invoices accurately and efficiently
  • Reconcile Suppliers’ statements to the Supplier Purchase ledger account
  • Generate correct payments to suppliers in accordance with the agreed terms, making sure the company benefits from the full payment terms, allowed by the supplier
  • Communicating with the Supply Chain team – to make sure they are informed of any supplier problems being encountered.
  • Monitor and control the invoice register
  • Process debit notes for supplier returns accurately and efficiently
  • Fully review and understand all aspects/entries on the Purchase Ledger
  • Ensure cash is collected at the earliest opportunity
  • Incorporate process improvement into all aspects of the role, eliminating diversionary activity wherever it is identified
  • Undertake any ad hoc duties as and when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Accounting qualification – Associates or Bachelor degree in related discipline
  • Intermediate MS Office, mainly Excel (by experience – no qualification is required)
